A couple of weeks ago, during an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was brutally attacked by Drew McIntyre. Since the attack, Rhodes has not been seen on WWE TV.
Drew McIntyre was recently a special guest on the Huge Pop podcast with Donnie Dasilva and former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas. During the interview, the Scottish Psychopath shared the reason why he chose to attack Cody Rhodes. McIntyre mentioned that he wants to beat Rhodes for the WWE Title, a championship that he himself carried during the pandemic era of WWE.
McIntyre also claimed that Rhodes is so desperate for the fans to like him. He thus believes that if he takes the title away from Rhodes, then he might help the American Nightmare understand what the reality is.
“Back on SmackDown, where it’s a WWE Championship… The title I helped during the pandemic the entire time, the title I won… The guy that’s got…. It’s the one I want to beat for Cody Rhodes. 20-year you know, relationship with him and I, former tag team champions as kids… Former chosen ones, I guess… For the future, John chosen ones had to choose ourselves. But different destinations we’re at right now, where I open my eyes to the truth about so many things that he’s so desperate to be like, so desperate for attention,” McIntyre said.
He added, “I wonder if they want to take the title off him… And teach him the hard way the reality of the wrestling world, the reality of the world, because he’s still in the mindset I was in 2020. So I’m excited possibly getting my hands on him.” [H/T WrestlingNews.co]
