Chris Jericho Sparked WWE Return Speculation During AEW Absence

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho’s recent move has fueled talk of a possible WWE return.

Chris Jericho hasn’t wrestled since AEW Dynasty on April 6, where he lost the Ring of Honor World Championship to Bandido. A few days later, on the April 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, Jericho walked out on his Learning Tree partners, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, before being written off TV.

Since then, Jericho has remained absent from AEW programming. Reports revealed that Chris Jericho took time off from AEW to focus on an upcoming tour with his band, Fozzy. Before stepping away, Jericho admitted in an interview that he would be open to a WWE return.

Fans haven’t seen the former AEW World Champion on television for months. Now, Jericho’s latest move has fueled even more speculation. An Instagram account j.m.playground claimed his AEW contract ends in December 2025 and suggested he could consider rejoining WWE depending on the situation. Jericho liked the post, which has sparked rumors about his status with AEW.

With Chris Jericho’s contract set to expire at the end of this year, his latest move has teased that he may be open to a WWE return. This raises questions about his future in AEW. Will the inaugural AEW World Champion leave the company he helped launch? Only time will tell.
