Shayna Baszler contemplates her future.
Following her release from WWE and the completion of a 90-day non-compete clause, Shayna Baszler is now a free agent. While appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Baszler addressed her potential next steps in the professional wrestling world, which could take her to a number of promotions, including AEW.
“There have been talks,” Baszler said. There are some indie companies that, at the time I signed with WWE, it was for the [2017] Mae Young Classic. So we did the Mae Young Classic, and I hadn’t officially signed on full-time yet, and the understanding at that time was, ‘Yeah, yeah, just sign, and when you need to drop all those titles on the indies, we’ll let you go back and take care of those.’ That never came to fruition. These companies have reached out and been like, ‘Hey, remember that title?’ So there have been some talks.
“Obviously, it’s not a secret, I’m really good friends with Marina [Shafir],” she continued. “I have a lot of good friends there [at AEW]. So there’s been some discussion as to what the future could hold, for sure.”

Baszler is open to signing with AEW
When directly asked if she’d like to sign with All Elite Wrestling, Baszler confirmed that she’s open to it, especially given the many familiar faces within the company. Above all, though, Baszler simply wants a place to continue her craft inside the squared circle.
“I’ve said almost exactly this statement when people were talking about the UFC to WWE transition, I don’t care as much about the letters behind it. I just want to practice my craft, and if I can do that alongside my friends, that’s always a great place to be,” she said. “I’m not going to say a hard no to any of that.”
