Does Darby Allin fear losing his spot in AEW while he ventures off into other quests in life, like climbing Mount Everest?
All Elite Wrestling‘s Darby Allin was a recent guest on Steve-O’s Wild Ride Podcast. When asked if he was worried that being gone from the company for five months to climb Mount Everest would cost him his spot, Allin explained why he doesn’t give a f*ck about losing his spot.
“That’s the thing I was talking about earlier, is so many people never want to give up their spot, because they’re gonna feel like the fans will forget and they’ll become irrelevant. I don’t give a f*ck. Take my spot, I do not give a shit,” Darby Allin proclaimed. “I told Tony Khan, the owner of AEW, before I went up there, I was like, dude, I don’t need a championship, I don’t need shit.
“I don’t need a f*cking championship. I’m already winning in life. There’s nothing that compares to this. The fact that you let me do Mount Everest in what essentially is like my peak fitness, whatever, 32 years old, I feel incredible, because there’s a lot of people that want to do Mount Everest, but their careers, they just can never find the time off.
“So I was like, dude, I don’t give a f*ck. I don’t care. The more and more I’m in this, the less and less I care about the spotlight. It’s weird. I’m more at peace with just doing crazy shit on my property in Atlanta than you know. So I’m like, dude, take my spot. I don’t care.”
Allin is scheduled to face Jon Moxley later this month at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
