MJF took home some gold this weekend, winning the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship at a show.
MJF took on Averno during CMLL Viernes Espectacular on August 1, 2025. In the event — held at Arena Mexico — MJF added yet another title to his impressive resume. He hit a half-crab for the win, grabbing the title and promptly celebrating with it in front of a stunned crowd.
With the win, MJF now has his 14th singles championship reign. He’s a well-decorated champion in All Elite Wrestling and a number of other promotions. As for CMLL, this is his first title with the company.
In AEW, MJF is currently dealing with the fallout of being kicked out of The Hurt Syndicate. On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF was formally kicked out of the group by Shelton Benajmin. It’s unclear how he’ll bounce back from that, but MJF has shown that he’s always got a backup plan for when things change.
Outside of wrestling, the star is currently enjoying a successful run as an actor. MJF recently appeared in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2. That film is currently available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
