Blue Panther is coming to Major League Wrestling.
On Tuesday, Major League Wrestling announced that lucha libre legend Blue Panther is set to make his debut for the company. Blue Panther, also known as El Maestro Lagunero, will make his first appearance at MLW Fightland in North Richland Hills, Texas on Saturday, September 13.
“Lucha icon Blue Panther, known as El Maestro Lagunero, is one of the most technically gifted and respected grapplers in the history of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL),” MLW wrote in an official press release. “Debuting in 1978, he was crowned the first-ever CMLL World Middleweight Champion following a prestigious tournament in 1991, and has since amassed an impressive list of accolades—including the CMLL World Tag Team Championship, two World Trios Championships, as well as multiple Mexican National Middleweight and Trios titles.
Blue Panther is considered to be one of the pillars of Lucha Libre. According to MLW, he earned the name ‘El Maestro Lagunero’ for multiple reasons. First, because of his tutelage of future wrestling stars (including his sons), and due to his mastery of in-ring strategy.
