Saraya is open to a return to WWE, but it doesn’t appear that the promotion has put out any feelers about making it happen.
According to a new report from Bodyslam.net (via Patreon), WWE is not currently interested in bringing Saraya back. It was noted that WWE has not had any internal discussions about bringing her back, and she was not considered for an appearance at Evolution 2 in Atlanta this month.
Saraya isn’t looking for an immediate return to WWE
It’s worth noting that despite being interested in a return, Saraya has said she was not actively pursuing the opportunity either. Earlier this year, Saraya told WrestleZone that she hadn’t spoken to WWE since leaving AEW. She was open to returning, but planned on spending the next year shoring up some of her business dealings.
More recently, she said that while she is open to returning to WWE, she’d prefer to do it as Paige.
“Paige, 100%. I miss Paige so much. I tell people all the time. So again, when I went to AEW, I didn’t want to be close to my character in WWE because of the comparisons. I was like, Okay. And then I ended up being like a chicken sh*t heel with AEW. Which is all fun and good, but there’s a ceiling to that. Whereas Paige, I mean, she’s generational. I love her. She’s bad ass, tough as nails, just screaming all the time. I loved being her. She was a f*cking badass. And that felt more like an elevated version of myself, rather than doing what I was doing in AEW. But again, that was my decision to be like that. But then I was like, Damn I wish I leaned more into my original character, but it is what it is. You live, you learn.”
When Evolution came up, Saraya said she was open to it because she missed the first one due to her neck issues. Despite being open to it, Saraya didn’t push the topic and simply said she would “think about it” if the opportunity came up. Saraya also said she’d love to appear in the Women’s Royal Rumble. She pointed out that she also couldn’t appear in a previous Women’s Rumble match due to her neck issues.
