Jim Ross Explains Why He Stopped Watching WWE RAW on Netflix

Jim Ross recently opened up about why he hasn’t been watching WWE RAW since the show moved to Netflix.

During an recent episode of his podcast Grilling JR, Ross explained that even though he’s been a passionate wrestling fan for decades. However, he revealed he hasn’t tuned in to a single episode of WWE RAW since the platform change.

“I think TV is here to stay for pro wrestling. I don’t really know. It’s a head scratcher to me, using myself as an example. I’m a huge wrestling fan. Have been forever. However, I’ve never watched one episode of Raw since it moved to Netflix.”

While, Ross said he made it clear that he’s not avoiding WWE RAW for any personal reasons he just doesn’t have a Netflix subscription. He mentioned still watches SmackDown because it airs on the USA Network, which he finds more accessible and easier to tune into.

“Not because I’m boycotting, I don’t have Netflix, and I haven’t gone to the trouble of getting it. So what happens on Monday night? I don’t, I don’t know. I read about it, I don’t see it… I watched SmackDown on Friday night because I have access to it readily and easily on the USA Network.” When discussing WWE’s move to streaming and whether it will truly make a big impact, Ross said, “I don’t see it being a difference maker. WWE’s 10-year, multi-billion dollar deal with Netflix marked a major shift for its flagship show earlier this year. WWE RAW has been a global hit, staying in Netflix’s Top 10 for over 27 weeks. Netflix VP Gabe Spitzer said the company is very happy with the partnership so far.
