Report: Injury Leads To AEW Tag Tournament Plans Changing

AEW star Colten Gunn’s injury has ruled The Gunns out of the AEW World Tag Team title eliminator tournament.

On this week’s episode of Dynamite, AEW announced a tag team eliminator tournament. The winning team will get a title shot at Forbidden Door next month. In the first match, FTR beat JetSpeed to move on to the semifinals.

During the show, commentator Excalibur said Colten Gunn’s injury stopped The Gunns from joining the tournament. Fightful Select reported the original plans to include The Gunns, but Colten Gunn’s injury changed it.

Colten Gunn got hurt not long after he returned and he needs more time to recover. However, AEW planned to include The Gunns in the tag team eliminator tournament. Even though AEW didn’t announce all the teams, The Gunns were part of the original lineup. Due to the injury, the company now has to change those plans. They were hoping Colten would be ready, but it doesn’t look like that will happen.

While the Tag Team Eliminator Tournament has started, AEW hasn’t revealed all the teams competing in it yet. Check out what else happened on AEW Dynamite here.
