Omos hasn’t been seen in WWE for quite some time, but it appears that the company has discussed sending him to an international territory.
Omos hasn’t been seen on WWE TV in more than a year. His last match wasn’t even in a WWE ring, as he competed for Pro Wrestling NOAH in January. However, that doesn’t mean that WWE is souring on the Nigerian, as the company has reportedly discussed sending him to AAA Mexico.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes, WWE’s creative team has discussed sending Omos to AAA for a run that mirrors his brief stint in NOAH. It was noted that the idea behind sending him to AAA is to “further establish him as a true special attraction outside the WWE bubble.”
WWE announced it had acquired AAA Mexico on WrestleMania 41 weekend.
Why wasn’t Omos in NOAH longer?
Omos told GamblingIndustryNews that his run in Pro Wrestling NOAH seemingly ended abruptly, but the plan was always for him to only be there for a month.
“It was always the plan to spend one month there. I do hope I get to go back soon, but that was always the plan,” he revealed. “I’m a married man, so being away from my wife for over a month was tough! I spent Christmas Day and New Year at home, then went to Japan for four and a half weeks. I loved it and had a blast in Japan. But still, I missed my wife, and I did want to be home, but I cannot wait to go back whenever that time comes.”
Overall, Omos called his time in Japan a phenomenal experience.
“Yes, that was phenomenal, man,” Omos said. “I was going through a little bit of a pause, just waiting around. I needed to go to Japan, and I ended up finding myself as a performer. And I needed to go to Japan for my personal and mental health. It was really good to go there and just kind of have this fresh restart again.”
During his tenure, Omos won the Pro Wrestling NOAH GHC Tag Team Title with Jack Morris. He vacated the title once he returned to WWE earlier this year. Despite being called back, Omos has not competed on WWE TV since the 2024 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
