A current champion will reportedly be missing from AEW programming for a bit.
At AEW All In: Texas, The Opps successfully defended their World Trios Titles against the Death Riders. However, once the match concluded, the Death Riders brutally attacked Samoa Joe. The aftermath resulted in The Samoan Submission Machine leaving on a stretcher.
While at the time many thought it was done to explain why The Opps wouldn’t appear to back Hangman in the main event of All In, it appears there was a bigger reason in play.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Samoa Joe is scheduled to miss some time from AEW following All In to promote season two of Twisted Metal.
While it’s currently unknown how long Joe will be away for, Sapp states he’s heard it will be “at least a couple of weeks.”
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Samoa Joe’s AEW status as it becomes available.
