Hangman Page reflects on his previous reign as AEW World Champion to prepare for a potential second one following All In: Texas.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Hangman Page was a recent guest on SHAK Wrestling. When asked what the most challenging aspect of his first World Title reign was, Page said that all his original vision was about winning the title and never thinking about what would happen after he became champion.
“You know, I felt that I had worked so hard for so long to win the World Championship, and that is where my vision was. That’s all I thought about,” Hangman Page admitted. “But, I guess I probably did not take a lot of time in thinking what would happen the morning after, the week after, the month after. That is a different challenge.
“There’s a different kind of drive that a person would have to win something as opposed to hold it and keep it. I think that’s maybe the main difference, and I feel that this time around in challenging for the World Championship, I kind of understand that difference a bit more, having been there before. So, should I win at All In, I’ve got maybe a different approach this time.”
Hangman believes the magic of AEW is back
As the company approaches All In: Texas, Page believes AEW has found some of the same magic it had when the company first launched several years ago.
“It very much does feel like, for me, personally, my experience week to week, a lot of the same kind of magic of those first few weeks and months of AEW TV… The sense of wanting to work together for a common goal,” Hangman Page said. To make something good, exciting, new, fun, fresh. Yeah, the trajectory has felt upwards, and I’m just gracious to still be here and still be a part of that.” [H/T: Fightful]
