WWE Hall Of Famer Calls The Undertaker ‘The Godfather’ Of WWE

JBL recently praised The Undertaker, describing him as the true ‘Godfather’ of WWE.

Speaking on the Something to Wrestle With podcast, JBL emphasized The Undertaker’s pivotal role behind the scenes, crediting him as the most trusted performer in Vince McMahon’s inner circle and the longtime locker room leader.

“100%, no doubt about it. Not on some level, he is 100%. He’s the guy Vince McMahon called when he needed things; he was the ultimate ‘break glass’ guy. JBL mentioned that while many Superstars sought the spotlight when business was booming. The Undertaker willingly stepped up even when the WWE faced downturns.

“Nobody wants to carry the title when business is down because you get blamed for stuff. When business is up, everybody wants the title. He called The Undertaker under all circumstances. He also compared The Undertaker’s loyalty and leadership to that of Triple H.

“You know, Triple H was much in the same role. The Undertaker was there a little bit longer, but he was the guy that Vince called when you needed something. He was the fail-safe for when you didn’t know if guys were going to show up. The Undertaker was on a lot of pay-per-views that he did not headline, but in case something happened, he was always the fail-safe guy.”

“He was always the guy… you know how much Vince loves his kids; if Shane McMahon is here, The Undertaker is right there with him. He’s one of Vince’s favorite guys, but he’s also one of wrestling’s favorite guys. He was the locker room leader, not because of his tenure and not because of his position, but because of who he is.” [H/T: wrestlingnews]

It’s well known that during the 1990s, when WWE was competing with WCW in the Monday Night Wars, The Undertaker stayed loyal to WWE and Vince McMahon. While many other wrestlers left for rival companies, he stayed with WWE.
