Chelsea Green wasn’t on hand for tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, and as a result, missed out on her Queen of the Ring qualifying match.
During tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Green was set to take part in a match against Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Candice LeRae. However, SmackDown GM was interrupted by Green’s crew backstage. In a FaceTime with Green, she said she couldn’t find an acceptable flight to the “one-horse town” of Lexington, Kentucky.
As a result, she couldn’t make it, and asked Aldis to postpone the match. Aldis was having none of it, though, and said that wouldn’t be happening. Instead, it would Alba Fyre, who was available, to take her part. Green tried to protest, but Aldis was hearing none of it.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. To determine the finals, each brand will have two four-way matches, with superstars advancing. Semifinals for the tournament will also begin a cross-brand competition.
King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final.
