Sammy Guevara Shares His Initial Reaction To Getting Hit By A Golf Cart On AEW Dynamite

Sammy Guevara has a big weekend ahead at Double Or Nothing, but he’s also celebrating a big personal milestone.

WrestleZone spoke with Sammy Guevara ahead of Double or Nothing, an event where he’s had some memorable moments. The 2020 event featured the first “Stadium Stampede” match. That bout featured several memorable moments, including Guevara getting chased by Hangman Page on a horse.

The build also featured a tag team street fight on the May 6, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite. This is where Guevara was run over by a golf cart driven by Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy. That moment has now been immortalized in action figure form by Jazwares, who released the “AEW Archive Golf Cart 3-Pack” to its Jazwares Vault on May 23.

Guevara spoke about what being part of that match and the figure meant to him. He also reflected on having that moment live on in AEW history.

Sammy Guevara highlights what his latest action figure release means to him

“Man, I am super happy to answer this question. That was like the first show back once the world had shut down. That April, we were just at home and then that May, the first match announced was the street fight. I just remember the camaraderie of everyone [agreeing] that we need to put together a great show for the people stuck at home. When the idea of me getting hit with this golf cart came up, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to make this look crazy!’ I was a much younger Sammy, I didn’t have a family yet. [laughs]

“I never expected to see how much it blew up and all the memes, all of that. The fact it’s an action figure goes to show that if you give 100 percent, you never know what kind of moment you can make. My attitude was always like, ‘Whatever they give me, I’m going to try to make the most of it,’ whether I’m getting superkicked by Matt Jackson, folded up like a pretzel or whatever.”

Guevara shows proof that hard work pays off

Guevara said there are many details about the Jazwares release that mean a great deal to him. This includes sharing the honor with Omega and Hardy.

“This really means a lot to me, not only because of the packaging, the moment, but the people I’m with,” Guevara added. “Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega, two legends of the business. And we’ve got Sammy Guevara, a young legend of his own, it means a lot. And it just goes to show that hard work can pay off. It might take a little bit longer than you wanted it to, but after five years, we finally got it!”

Fans can buy the “AEW Archive Golf Cart 3-Pack” on the Jazwares Vault while supplies last. The item is limited to 3,000 pieces.
