Je’Von Evans Wants To Be The First Je’Von Evans, Doesn’t Want To Be Compared To Any Other Black Wrestler

Je’Von Evans is one of one.

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard recently spoke with Evans, current star on WWE NXT. Evans spoke about his historic NXT Stand & Deliver main event match, which was the first time three Black men (four, including referee Dallas Irvin) main evented a NXT premium live event. Evans considers himself blessed to be in his position, but said he’s just going to keep working hard to build his name up even more.

“Man, honestly, bro… I’m just blessed to be in this position,” Evans said. “Honored. Hard work is paying off. And I’m going to keep on working my ass off to get to where I want to be and that’s wanting to be The Greatest of All Time.”

Evans expressed his interest in a match with one of his idols growing up, Jeff Hardy. In addition, Evans said that if fans are talking about him, he wants them to see that he’s trying to stand out. He doesn’t want to be compared to other Black wrestlers, but wants to be the first Je’Von Evans.

“I try to stand out from any and everybody, I don’t want to be compared to anybody. I don’t want to be compared to Kofi [Kingston] or any other Black wrestler, I just want to be the first Je’Von Evans. You feel me? And I’m going to keep on proving to you all why I should be the first Je’Von Evans. Straight like that,” Evans said.
