Toni Storm Reveals Why She Loved Wearing ‘Butt Straps’

AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm says wearing butt straps gave her a nice “boost.”

AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, now a four-time titleholder, had an intense rivalry with former best friend Mariah May. On the February 5th episode of AEW Dynamite, Storm faced Queen Aminata while May joined commentary at ringside.

During the match, Storm shocked fans by dressing and behaving like Mariah May, clearly aiming to get inside her head. May didn’t take the impersonation lightly. She looked visibly upset and eventually stepped onto the ring apron in frustration, though she eventually stormed off.

In a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Toni Storm reflected on that night. When asked about the crowd’s reaction to her impersonation, Storm gave a cheeky answer.

“You just liked it because I was wearing those little butt strap things. Yes? No, I loved it,” Toni Storm said. “Gave me a nice boost. It was a very empowering moment.”

The “butt straps” are not unique to Mariah May or Toni Storm, as the item has become popular with female wrestlers in the last few years. The straps are worn high up on a wrestler’s thigh, which “pops” their butt to look better on camera.

Toni Storm rejects the idea of a dream matches

Toni Storm dismissed the idea of having a dream opponent in AEW. She said, “I don’t have one, I don’t have a dream opponent,” Toni Storm admitted. “I don’t dream about this anymore. None of this is a dream. This is a f*cking nightmare. Why do people dream about fighting people? So that I can get in the ring with one of the women and have them kick me in the head? What is so dreamy about this? Dream match… baloney!”

When asked to compare herself to Mercedes Moné, Storm confidently declared herself the superior champion.
