A certain finish on the April 11 episode of WWE SmackDown didn’t go according to plan.
Last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown featured an odd finish where Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green lost a match to Zelina Vega via countout. The match wasn’t supposed to end like this, however.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, several sources in the company told him that Green didn’t hear the referee’s count as it was getting to ten. When the count got to ten, the referee had no other choice but to call the match as a shoot because they were on live television.
Johnson was told that the match was scheduled to go a few minutes longer than what we got. On the bright side, no injury forced a new finish to the match, and it was just a simple miscommunication.
Furthermore, Johnson believes that Vega was scheduled to win the match regardless. Thus, the finish didn’t hurt future storylines.
