Rey Fenix To Debut On WWE SmackDown

Rey Fenix is officially coming to WWE SmackDown.

In recent weeks, vignettes on SmackDown have hyped up the looming arrival of a mysterious luchador, who was all but confirmed to be Rey Fenix. On March 21st, Fightful Select Espanol confirmed that Fenix had officially signed with WWE, and he was set to join WWE SmackDown.

A new vignette aired on the March 28th episode of WWE SmackDown, and it confirmed that the newcomer was Rey Fenix. It was also announced that Fenix would make his debut on the April 4th episode of WWE SmackDown.

Rey Fenix had been with AEW since 2019. He won the AEW World Tag Team Championship and the ROH World Tag Team Championship with Penta El Zero Miedo (now known as Penta). Fenix also won the trios titles and the AEW International Championship. He has not wrestled since July 2024. Fenix made heated comments about “inhumane treatment” in since-deleted tweets. AEW reportedly added injury time to his contract, but he left the company earlier in March.

Fenix’s brother and tag team partner Penta left AEW in December and signed with WWE. Penta made his WWE debut in January. He has been featured on WWE RAW ever since.

WrestleZone has coverage of WWE SmackDown as it airs every Friday.
