Richard Holliday previously had a prominent run in MLW, as he held the MLW World Tag Team Championships. He has been active on the independent scene in recent years. In September 2023, Holliday had a WWE tryout, but he did not sign with the company.
During a recent interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Richard Holliday reflected on his WWE tryout. Holliday stated that it was a great experience and he had an awesome time.
“Sure. It’s one of those things where, how many people have had like that, the tryout or whatever the case may be, and then it’s just a few years down the road, or it’s the next week, or you never really know in this business, to be honest with you. But it was a great experience, it was awesome.” (H/T Fightful)
In recent months, Holliday has competed for GCW and other promotions. He also had a match on AEW Rampage in November.
Richard Holliday On GCW
During the same interview, Richard Holliday discussed how much he loves competing in GCW. He spoke highly of the promotion and highlighted how they travel all over the place.
“I love GCW. It does allow me to bring out a certain side or temperament of me, which I like,” he said. “So to me, GCW, I don’t even want to just say it’s the top independent promotion in the world because that goes without saying. I think it’s just up there is just one of the top wrestling promotions in the world. Think about who else is going from coast to coast, stateside. They just announced they’re going to the UK in January.
“Who knows if it’ll pop up there, pip pip, Japan. They’re all over the place and it’s every weekend too. It’s like you could literally just be a GCW full-time performer and the beauty of that is that, you know, they don’t do contracts because they are independent in that sense. But they have their regulars and they have guys who can sink into certain stories and things of that nature. There’s no rules, which is great.” (H/T Fightful)
