Tony Khan Cites AEW’s Upcoming Simulcast As An Opportunity To Expand Its Audience

Tony Khan assesses the company’s new simulcast feature.

Looking ahead to 2025, AEW CEO Tony Khan recently voiced his excitement for the company’s upcoming integration with the MAX streaming service, which includes the option to simultaneously stream AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision on cable and on MAX. During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Khan spoke further in depth about this feature, which he views as an opportunity to retain existing cable viewers, while also bringing in potential new fans.

“Pro wrestling has always been at the forefront of me media, whether it was broadcast television, cable, pay-per-view, closed circuit before that and VHS, DVD, every medium for watching wrestling there is. Streaming is the future of pro wrestling. Streaming I think is the future of entertainment,” Khan said. “For the pro wrestling business, it’s important to have AEW take that huge step into the future. That’s why I’m so excited about the simulcast, because we can keep the great thing we have going TBS and TNT.”

“It won’t change anything for the fans watching the show on those networks, but it gives a great opportunity for us to open up to a new audience and reach a lot of the cord-cutting fans. There’s a great library. And we’re really lucky to be on MAX because it’s the best collection in my opinion of movies and shows of any streaming platform. It’s a massive audience; it’s a lot of fans that haven’t had access to AEW ever before. It’s something really exciting. We’ll be live streaming all of our shows and it’ll be a great time for fans to catch up on the library of events.”

As Khan alluded to, AEW’s multi-year agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery not only brings forth the opportunity to simulcast its top two shows, but to also stream the company’s full library of content on MAX. AEW pay-per-views will also stream on the MAX platform at a discounted price as well, though sometime later in 2025.
