Beth Phoenix‘s WWE contract has expired, so she is a free agent, according to a new report.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Beth Phoenix is no longer under contract with WWE. Johnson wrote that multiple WWE sources confirmed the news.
Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that WWE sources confirmed the news. Per sources, Phoenix is said to be in great condition, and she could compete again if she wanted to. The report notes that the possibility of her appearing for AEW has been “broached backstage”, with one source noting that it would likely be once Adam Copeland returns.
Beth Phoenix’s WWE Career
Beth Phoenix signed with WWE in 2004 and debuted on the main roster in 2006. She was later repackaged as The Glamazon, and she had a successful run before she eventually left the company in 2012. Phoenix was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017. She later started working as a part-time commentator for the company. Phoenix came out of retirement for a brief run ahead of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
In 2019, Phoenix joined the NXT commentary team full-time. She also returned to the ring for the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble. Phoenix was a part of the feud between Randy Orton and Edge in 2020, and Orton hit her with an RKO.
Phoenix returned to WWE at WWE Day 1 in 2022, and she helped her husband Edge beat The Miz. Edge and Phoenix beat The Miz and Maryse at WWE Royal Rumble 2022. Phoenix later returned again as part of Edge’s feud with The Judgment Day, and Rhea Ripley attacked her. After attacking Ripley at WWE Royal Rumble 2023, Phoenix wrestled at WWE Elimination Chamber, where she and Edge beat Ripley and Finn Balor.
Edge, now going by Adam Copeland, left WWE in 2023 and signed with AEW. He is currently sidelined as he is recovering from the fractured tibia that he suffered at AEW Double or Nothing.
WrestleZone will provide more information about Beth Phoenix’s status as it becomes available.
