AEW International Champion MJF makes a bold claim by saying that he’s Ric Flair incarnated, but better.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, MJF discussed his win against Will Ospreay on the July 17th episode of AEW Dynamite. MJF commented on how he used the stairmaster to train, and while Flair has also highlighted his use of the machine, MJF took an opportunity to say that he was even better than Flair.
“There’s a reason that after my match, Ric Flair posted a side-by-side comparison photo,” he said. “I’m Ric Flair incarnated–and with all due respect to Ric, better.”
The former world champion went on to emphasize how much he trained on the Stairmaster and used it to show that he was a true athlete.
“I’m on the Stairmaster every day for two hours,” he said. “That’s the difference between me and Will Ospreay. I’m a real athlete. He’s a f—— gymnast.”
MJF missed several months due to a shoulder injury, but he returned at AEW Double or Nothing. Now that he’s back, he believes that the company has just what it needs.
“I’ve been carrying this company for five years on my back,” he said. “People need MJF. It’s that simple. This company needs MJF. Fortunately, they’ve got me.”
WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on July 24th.
