Matt Cardona Wouldn’t Be Surprised If GCW And WWE Work Together Beyond Bloodsport

As the forbidden door remains open in WWE, Matt Cardona believes a Game Changer Wrestling invasion could be nearing.

In 2024, several WWE Superstars have gone outside of company boundaries for dream matches at promotions such as GCW, Marigold, NOAH, and TNA Wrestling. Later this month, that trend will continue when the likes of Shayna Baszler, Charlie Dempsey and The Creed Brothers compete at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XI, which falls under the banner of GCW.

While speaking with Scott Fishman of SEScoops, “The Indy God” Matt Cardona contemplated the possibility of WWE and GCW taking their partnership a step further.

“I don’t think GCW gets the credit it deserves,” Cardona said. “This company is truly an independent company run all over the world, every single weekend. I think it’s WWE, then GCW. I don’t think any other company runs as much as consistently as GCW is currently doing. WWE, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do stuff with GCW. They already kind of are with the Josh Barnett Bloodsport. But imagine Matt Cardona comes down the ramp at Raw, then Joey Janela, Effy, Nick Gage, Steph De Lander [follow]. I’m getting goosebumps right now talking about it.”

“You talk about a perfect way for Matt Cardona to make his debut at WWE, because he ain’t coming back as Zack Ryder. Zack Ryder is dead. [Imagine if] Matt Cardona comes down the aisle, Nick Gage hops the barricade. You want to talk about moments, that’s a moment. Effy, Janela, SDL, Allie [Katch], Mance [Warner], you got everybody we could bring in. Brett Lauderdale could be the new [Paul] Heyman on commentary.”

While it remains to be seen if WWE and GCW will work together beyond Bloodsport XI, the four aforementioned talents are gearing up for their brutal battles at the July 28 event. Demsey and Creed Brothers are still waiting for official announcements on their opponents. Baszler, on the other hand, is confirmed to be facing former TJPW Princess Of Princess Champion Miyu Yamashita.
