Sareee wants to face fellow Japanese wrestling star IYO SKY.
WWE star IYO SKY returned to Japan at Marigold Summer Destiny, where she faced Utami Hayashishita At the same show, Sareee beat Giulia to become the inaugural Marigold World Champion.
Speaking with Tokyo Sports, Sareee commented on potentially facing IYO SKY. She mentioned how IYO was a special part of her run in WWE’s NXT brand. She said that IYO helped her ease into the company and openly welcomed her.
“To me, she was like an older sister,” Sareee said. “I thought she was really amazing because she was doing it all by herself. I saw her through some tough times when she couldn’t play in matches and got injured, so I think she’s really amazing now. After all, you can’t survive without a strong mentality.”
However, plenty of time has passed since those days when the two were in NXT. IYO has gone on to the main WWE roster to capture multiple singles and tag team championships. Sareee, on the other hand, returned to Japan after a brief NXT run to win titles herself and re-establish her name in the industry. Now, Saree wants to share the ring with the former WWE Women’s Champion.
“The WWE Universe is paying attention to IYO’s appearance, and I think they will watch the match,” Sareee said. “I want to show the world a completely different, improved version of myself from the Sarray I was in WWE. And now, I am the one standing in the middle of the Marigold ring. I will beat Giulia and prove that I am the true ace of Marigold!”
WWE has recently been more open to collaborating with outside promotions, so Sareee’s request may not be too far off from coming true.
