Report: Ric Flair Not Currently Factored Into AEW’s Creative Plans

Ric Flair is not currently factored in the creative plans in AEW, according to a new report.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair joined AEW in November, and he signed a multi-year deal after he appeared as a special surprise for Sting on the October 25, 2023, episode of AEW Dynamite. Flair regularly appeared on AEW programming as part of Sting’s retirement run. Sting competed in his last match at AEW Revolution, and Flair got involved in the bout. Flair has not been featured on AEW television since then.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Ric Flair and AEW are seemingly done working together. Per Sapp, Flair has not been factored into any creative plans for the time being. Sapp writes that Flair has not been brought up creatively in “quite some time.”

Furthermore, Sapp cites sources who note that the partnership between AEW and Ric Flair’s Wooo! Energy has effectively finished. Tony Khan himself previously said that the sponsorship effectively paid for Flair’s appearances on AEW programming.

Flair was involved in a controversy in May when leaked footage of an incident between him and the kitchen manager at Piesanos Restaurant sparked a lot of buzz.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
