Stephanie Vaquer Removes Herself From CMLL And NJPW Rosters, Stripped Of CMLL Titles

Stephanie Vaquer is leaving CMLL and NJPW.

On July 10, CMLL and NJPW announced that Stephanie Vaquer, citing personal reasons, had elected to depart from both companies’ rosters effectively immediately. As a result, Vaquer will not compete in her scheduled match against Lluvia at the Fantasticamania event on July 13.

CMLL also announced that Stephanie Vaquer was stripped of the CMLL World Women’s and World Women’s Tag Team Championship.

A new CMLL World Women’s Champion will be crowned at the Fantasticamania event on July 13. Lluvia will face Viva Van and AEW’s Willow Nightingale for the title.

Vaquer competed at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. There, she lost the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship to Mercedes Moné. Record Mexico then reported that she had offers from AEW and WWE. Luchablog wrote that she was still under contract with CMLL, though the company might let her out of her deal if she had a big offer from a company in the United States.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that Stephanie Vaquer has had talks with AEW and WWE, and both companies have maintained interest. Sapp writes that Vaquer had not signed with AEW, and she was not closing in on a deal there, though interest had been “conveyed.” The report also notes that WWE showed interest after Forbidden Doorm and AEW sources believed that she was likely headed there.

WrestleZone will provide more information about Stephanie Vaquer’s status as it becomes available.
