Say his name, and he appears. TNA star Joe Hendry returned on the July 9 episode of WWE NXT.
After a brawl at the beginning of the show, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans were set to face NXT Champion Ethan Page and Shawn Spears in the main event. However, Evans was taken out when Brooks Jensen attacked him backstage, leaving Williams in need of a partner. Several Joe Hendry teases were dropped throughout the show, and Hendry was revealed as Williams’ replacement partner.
The two teams then battled back and forth in a competitive match. Oro Mensah ran in and took the fight to Page. They ran off into the back, so Spears was left by himself. In the end, Williams hit the Trick Shot before Hendry slammed Spears for the win.
Hendry previously competed in a battle royal on the June 18 episode of WWE NXT. His return was teased at the end of NXT Heatwave and in a commercial for Tuesday’s episode of NXT.
Hendry’s appearances have come amid the ongoing collaboration between NXT and TNA. Earlier in Tuesday’s show, TNA stars Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz appeared. They are set to compete on the July 16 episode of WWE NXT.
