Cody Rhodes is ready to get his hands on The Final Boss.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was a recent guest on The Pivot Podcast. When asked when he expects to go one-on-one with The Rock, Rhodes said he is hopeful the match will take place within the next year.
“There’s this old quote, there’s a wrestling — I think I’m getting this right? Booker promoter, he used to have a plaque on his wall that said, ‘Personal issues draw money,'” Cody Rhodes said. “Because he’d have to explain to guys all the time, ‘You may not like this guy, you may hate him, but you can feel that in the ring.’
“So Rock told me he’d see me when he comes back. It’s a matter of my head has been on a swivel every day since the day after WrestleMania for when his ‘The Final Boss’ as Rock goes by now. When that music hits, I’ll be 100% in the same spot I was, and I’ll be ready for him.
“And I think if he comes in any bit like he did for WrestleMania, he’ll be doing the whole. ‘Oh, I finally got off. I’ve been so busy.’ Dude was on like a three-month training camp. He was dialed in. So I’ll certainly be dialed in myself. If I could give you a guess, I feel like I hope it happens in the next year.”
