WWE SmackDown‘s viewership increased on June 21.
According to Programming Insider, 2.336 million viewers watched the show on Friday night, and it drew a 0.73 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is up nearly 20 percent from last week’s episode, when 1.959 million viewers tuned in. The demo also rose considerably from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.52 rating in the same demographic.
This week’s show had the largest total viewership and key demographic rating since the SmackDown after WrestleMania on April 12.
SmackDown ranked second in the demographic on Friday. The show was up against the sixth game of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, which drew 4.237 million viewers and a 1.11 rating in the demographic. It’s worth noting last week’s show went up against Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals.
What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with a promo from CM Punk. Paul Heyman came out and tried to get him to leave and take him with him. The Bloodline went to attack Punk, but Cody Rhodes made the save.
Later in the show, Punk was violently attacked by Drew McIntyre and was taken out of the arena on a stretcher in an ambulance.
Carmelo Hayes and Chelsea Green qualified for their respective Money in the Bank matches.
The main event saw Cody Rhodes defeat Solo Sikoa by disqualification after The Bloodline got involved. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton tried to even the odds, which resulted in the debut of Jacob Fatu, who took out Owens, Orton, and Rhodes in quick succession.
