CM Punk wants to beat Drew McIntyre in the ring, but doesn’t want any gimmicks getting in between the two of them.
During the post-conference for WWE’s Clash at the Castle (via Fightful), CM Punk was asked about the possibility of facing McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match whenever he heals up. Punk laughed off the suggestion, calling it nothing more than “fantasy booking s—,” before explaining why he wouldn’t want to ever do a match like that.
“First match is a Hell in a Cell? Brother, you have to take that fantasy booking shit elsewhere,” said Punk. “I don’t want to ever do a Hell in a Cell. I don’t want to ever do a Ladder Match. I’m going to beat him up with my two fists. He wants to make fun of my tricep, I’m going to hurt him with it. I’m going to figure out something. Maybe learn a new hold. I’ll break his dreams. I’ll break his face.”
CM Punk has competed in Hell In A Cell before, competing in five Hell In A Cell matches in his career. The first was a World Heavyweight Championship loss to The Undertaker at the titular 2009 event, while the most recent one was a handicap match win inside the structure against Paul Heyman and Ryback in 2013. Ryback was also Punk’s opponent in 2012; that match resulted in Ryback’s first loss in WWE.
Punk might have to wait a bit longer for a match with McIntyre, as the Scot “quit” WWE on Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW.
