A new docuseries debuted recently. It is titled ‘Who Killed WCW’. As the title says, the series discusses the fall of World Championship Wrestling in detail. The series airs on Vice TV. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was also one of the Executive Producers of the show.
AEW commentator and WCW veteran Tony Schiavone recently shared why he will not be watching the docuseries.
The AEW commentator Tony Schiavone spoke on a recent episode of his podcast, the ‘What Happened When with Tony Schiavone’ Podcast. During the episode, Schiavone shared his thoughts on the series that discusses the negative side of the professional wrestling business.
Schiavone claimed that ‘Who Killed WCW’ is a hatchet job. He also questions the loyalty of the wrestlers on the business that helped them put food on the table for their families.
“I have watched some of the ‘Dark Side of the Ring,’ but I won’t watch that,” Schiavone said. “Because I know what it is — it’s a hatchet job. I see these people talking to the camera in ‘Dark Side of the Ring,’ and I’m going, ‘What are we doing?'” Schiavone continued. “Have some freaking respect for the business that paid you a lot of money.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Schiavone also said that he was unhappy with the producers, who also put out the “Plane Ride From Hell” episode of Dark Side of The Ring. Schiavone noted that Tommy Dreamer was “cancelled” for defending Flair on the show. He said Dreamer was wrong for his statements, but the producers are also at fault because Dreamer was reacting without them letting him hear the accuser’s testimony against Flair.
“To me, that tells me all I need to know about those producers, and that’s my problem with it, and that’s the only thing,” Tony Schiavone said.
