Ric Flair helped set Kurt Angle on the path to success in the professional wrestling industry.
Two-time WWE Hall of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio. During the interview, Flair took credit for convincing Kurt Angle to sign with WWE instead of WCW.
“I was working for WCW when I saw Kurt, and he said where should I go? And I called Vince right there from the gym and said you don’t want to go to Atlanta, brother. You will get lost.”
When asked to clarify what he just said, Flair elaborated on the story a bit.
“We were at a gym working out in Nashville, Tennessee,” Ric Flair recalled. “I had met Kurt several times, and he walked over and said, ‘I’m thinking about getting into wrestling. What do you think about me going into WCW?’ I said, ‘Give me a minute.’ I went to the locker room, got my phone, called out, and called Vince. I put him on the phone, and he was working out with Dory Funk Jr. two weeks later.”
