The following matches and segments are from the May 17th episode of TNA Xplosion.
The show opens with a match “From The Vault”. They showcase a reply of Christian Cage vs Jeff Jarrett from TNA Against All Odds 2006. This was the main event of the pay per view. It saw Jarrett defending his NWA World Heavyweight Championship against the former WWE Superstar.
At the end of a match filled with false finishes and ref bumps, Cage reversed the Stroke into the Killswitch to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title. This was the first world title win of the Canadian’s career.
Next, “Around The Ring with Gia Miller” was joined by Trey Miguel. Following on from last week’s chat with Zachary Wentz, she addressed the other half of The Rascalz tag team. They talked about Wentz dog, Bella, who is a mini dachshund. He spoke about the responsibility of being a “dog dad“, and how the dog changed his life.
This was followed by “In Case You Missed It”, as TNA Xplosion played a replay of the huge Champions Challenge 16 Man Tag Team Match from TNA Impact. The match was a convoluted mess, but ended when Joe Hendry pinned Brian Myers with a “Standing Ovation” to pick up the win for him and seven friends.
This leads us to the first official match of the night, and the main event of TNA Xplosion this week.
KUSHIDA Beat Steve Gibki In The Main Event Of TNA Xplosion
Steve Gibki vs KUSHIDA
- KUSHIDA made Gibki tap out to the Hoverboard Lock
The final match of the show saw Jersey’s Steve Gibki battling Japanese legend KUSHIDA. It was a clash of styles, but the strength of Gibki being too much for KUSHIDA at times.
The Time Splitter was behind for the most of the match, but a handspring elbow and an awkward-looking DDT put him in control of the match. He countered a rolling senton into a hoverboard lock, forcing Gibki to tap out in the TNA Xplosion main event.
