Jon Moxley: I’ve Tried To Make ‘Wild Thing’ My Own, But It’ll Never Truly Be My Song

Jon Moxley doesn’t see “Wild Thing” as his song, despite it being his entrance theme.

The former AEW Champion first used the iconic song as his entrance song back in 2021. He walked out to The Troggs’ version song on May 12th, 2021 on AEW Dynamite. After hearing the song for the first time, he defeated wrestlezone.com/tag/yuji-nagata in a great match.

He then went on to use the 1984 version, performed by X.

However, Moxley originally thought they had played the flute solo from “Season of the Witch”. He spoke with RJ City on Hey! EW, and confirmed that he was surprised at the change in music for the match.

Jon Moxley went on to discuss how the song is more known as Atsushi Onita’s entrance theme, and doesn’t feel like “his” song. Moxley also didn’t like the pandemic crowd signing along with the song, as it was simply them playing a part for TV, and not organic.

“One day, I thought they were playing [Donovan’s] ‘Season of the Witch’. I was like, why are they playing ‘Season of the Witch’ right now? But it wasn’t; it was the original ‘Wild Thing’. And I was like, I guess that’s my music now. But then he switched it to the, uh, like, the ‘Major League‘ version, which I love because I love that movie. And everyone loves Atsushi Onita, who also came out to that song. So it very much feels like it’s not my song.

“I’ve done pretty good kind of trying to, you know, wear that piece as my own, but it’ll never truly be my song. Right, so we’re filming at the Daily’s Place and there’s, you know, the crowd. Yes, it’s not a crowd, it’s a gathering. And I come out to that for the first time. They’re singing along, you know, but it’s pandemic wrestling, they’re not really singing. No, they’re just covering their mouths. Well, I mean, they’re singing and everything, but they’re not, you know, truly, they’re playing a part for television. And I’m like, this is weird.”
