A new report provides more information about Drew Gulak‘s looming WWE departure.
At the WWE Backlash post-show press conference, Triple H stated that Drew Gulak was not released, but that his contract was not renewed. PWInsider previously reported that Gulak was among the talent that had been released.
Sean Ross Sapp and Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) confirm that Drew Gulak is still with WWE. He was recently informed that the company would not be re-signing him when his deal expires next month.
The report notes that Gulak’s public response to Ronda Rousey’s claim that he grabbed the string of her sweatpants made things worse for him. As previously reported, the claim prompted WWE to launch an investigation into the incident and Gulak. However, the claim was not the “determining factor” in the move to not renew his contract.
Gulak was previously written off NXT TV in April. More information is available here.
Sources Call Drew Gulak A Bully
Brennan cites NXT talent who claim that Drew Gulak was a “bully”. These sources noted that he often targeted injuries during matches with talent who were recovering from minor issues. One source claimed that Gulak intentionally dislocated their finger after it was previously dislocated. It was also noted that Gulak would “test” talent to see whether they would respond to his actions.
The report also cites an incident at an NXT taping in 2023, where Gulak was “verbally reprimanded” by Shawn Michaels and NXT coaches for purposefully spiking an opponent in a match.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
