All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan wants to keep kayfabe alive and well.
Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan took a TK (Meltzer) Driver from The Young Bucks in the closing moments of the show. Social media was buzzing following the show, hopeful that Khan would sell the injuries at the NFL Draft the following day.
When pick 23 of the 2024 NFL Draft came around, Khan delivered in a big way from the Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Room, wearing a neck brace similar to the one Roderick Strong had used on AEW programming for a good portion of 2023.
While ESPN neglected to show the Jaguars Draft Room last night, it aired on NFL Network, and the angle from Dynamite was discussed by the legendary Rich Eisen.
“Jacksonville Jaguars were on the clock, 17 overall, but they traded down as Tony Khan becomes the first-ever NFL executive in a draft room, shaking off the effects of a piledriver he received on national television in a wrestling ring the night before. Such is life when you mix AEW and the NFL,” Rich Eisen said. “Tony Khan, hang in there, buddy. Hang in there.”
In addition to the coverage during the NFL Draft, the Around the NFL podcast discussed Khan wearing the neck brace on television last night and debated whether it was kayfabe or not. You can listen to that hilarious exchange in the embedded tweet below.
