New Japan Pro Wrestling presented NJPW Road To Wrestling Dontaku 2024 Night 4 on April 23rd, 2024. It featured five singles matches, as Just Bullet Club took on Los Ingobernables de Japon fought each other in one-on-one contests.
Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) & Shoma Kato vs. BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens, KENTA & Taiji Ishimori)
- Ishimori forces Kato to tap out to the Bone Lock
In a fairly open and back-and-forth contest, Bullet Club beat Bishamon and Shoma Kato in the opening bout of the Road to Wrestling Dontaku show.
Kato had a chance to pin Ishimori at the end, but just missed out on one of the biggest wins of his career. He missed out on the chance though, and was forced to tap out in the middle of the ring as Bullut Club picked up the win.
TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls, Shane Haste & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs. Guerrillas Of Destiny (El Phantasmo & Hikuleo), El Desperado & Ryusuke Taguchi
- Fujita forced Taguhi to tap out to a Boston Crab.
In a great eight-man tag match that helped build up the NJPW Strong Tag title match, TMDK beat GoD, El Desperado and Taguchi.
The match had some great technical wrestling sequences between Zack Sabre Jr and El Deserado, although that did not factor into the ending. Fujita forced Taguchi to tap out to a Boston Crab, giving TMDK another big win on the Road to Wrestling Dontaku.
Hiroshi Tanahashi, Oleg Boltin & Toru Yano (c) vs. House Of Torture (EVIL, SHO & Yujiro Takahashi)
- Tanahashi pinned Takahashi with a high-fly-flow.
If you could possibly imagine it, House of Torture resorted to, shock horror, cheating in this match! They jumped Oleg Boltin at the start of the match to get the advantage, although he fought them off soon after.
The match ended after a series of low blows from both teams. Boltin and Tanahashi then hit a Senton Bomb/High-fly-flow to pin Takahashi for the victory.
Gedo vs. Yota Tsuji
- Tsuji pinned Gedo after a Gene Blast.
The first of the LiJ VS BC matches saw Yota Tusji take on Gedo. This match did not last long, and as expected, saw Tusji pick up the win. Before he could even take his jacket off, he hit a massive spear on Gedo, pinning him for the win in mere seconds.
BUSHI vs. Gabe Kidd
- Kidd pinned BUSHI
The next match saw Gabe Kidd take on BUSHI, and was thankfully much longer than the last. BUSHI showed some excellent high-flying skills, with a brutal looking Canadian destroyer coming close to getting the win.
However, he could not keep Gabe Kidd down, who pinned BUSHI to make it 1-1 on the night so far.
Shingo Takagi vs. Clark Connors
- Tagaki pinned Connors after a bomber clothesline
Clark Connors immediately hid at ringside, slowing the pace down to try and get the advantage over Shingo. The pair proceeded to brawl around the arena before Connors got him back into the ring and tried to win the match properly.
However, the power and experience of the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion shone through. Shingo hit the bomber clothesline to pin Connors to give another win for LIJ in this series.
Tetsuya Naito vs. Drilla Moloney
- Maloney pinned Naito with a Drilla Killa
In the biggest shock of the night, Drilla Moloney pinned Tetsuya Naito in the biggest win of his career.
NOAH’s Jake Lee debuted in NJPW, and seemingly joined Bullet Club by attacking Naito and handing Moloney the victory over the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
Hiromu Takahashi vs. David Finlay
- Finlay pinned Takahashi after an Overkill
After the excitment of seeing Jake Lee debut, the crowd were hot for this main event match. Takahashi put on another incredible performance, as he solidifies himself as one of the greatest Junior Heavyweights in NJPW history.
This was one of Finlay’s best singles match so far. Takahashi tried pulling an “Eddie Guerrero” trick, trying to convince the referee he had been hit by Finlay’s sheleileigh. This didn’t quite win him the match
Finlay picked up the win with an Overkill at the end of a great match.
