The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly heading to AEW.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin had been two of TNA’s top stars for years, across multiple stints. They are three-time World Tag Team Champions, and both men have held the world title. Sabin is also an eleven-time TNA X-Division Champion. The duo has held gold in NJPW and ROH as well, among other promotions. They entered free agency in April after wrapping up with TNA in March.
On April 15, Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reported that, after speaking with sources, he could confirm that the Motor City Machine Guns were heading to AEW. He cites sources who said that the two sides were finalizing a deal. Haynes wrote that the deal would not be finalized “for a bit”, but a decision had been made.
WrestlePurists then reported that they had heard that Sabin and Shelley were in late-stage negotiations with AEW, and creative was coming up with ideas for the duo.
Upon entering free agency, the Motor City Machine Guns were believed to be AEW-bound. They competed in a one-off for AEW at the All Out pay-per-view in 2022.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
