Rhea Ripley says facing Becky Lynch at WWE WrestleMania 40 meant the world to her. She teases that it could just be the start for them.
WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley beat Becky Lynch in the opening match of WWE WrestleMania 40. The match had been built up to a long time, and the two stars delivered a thrilling bout to kick off WrestleMania.
At the WrestleMania 40 Night One Post-Show Press Conference, Rhea Ripley discussed her match with Lynch.
“It feels bloody fantastic, to say the least,” Rhea Ripley said. “Look, I went out there with one of the best in this federation, Becky Lynch. To be able to step toe-to-toe with her and bring the fight to her, it meant the absolute world to me, and to be able to have it on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania XL, the largest WrestleMania there is, it’s very, very special. I proved once again that Mami is always on top.”
Rhea Ripley Teases Rematch With Becky Lynch
Later in the press conference, Rhea Ripley was asked to share her thoughts on the match. She stated that she thought it was spectacular. Ripley noted that they had been building to the match for a long time. She repeated that it was spectacular. Ripley also teased that it could just be the start for her and Lynch/
“I think it was spectacular,” Ripley said. “We’ve been building to this for a long, long time,” Rhea Ripley said. “Becky and I haven’t had a match on television since NXT days, and that had no conclusion to the match because Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke came out, and they absolutely destroyed that for us. So this match, it’s been built up for a long, long time, and to have it on such an amazing stage as WrestleMania XL, have everything fall into place, with everything that’s been going on, it was spectacular.
“I feel like this could possibly just be the start for me and Becky as well. I feel like we haven’t had many chances to show you exactly what we have together, and we want to make more magic. But tonight was special, and tonight, I think she was a little bit upset. I think that she might want to get a little payback at some point. But right now, I’m content. I’m happy with the way it went, and we’ll see what the future holds.”
