One of the major reasons for John Cena to turn from a full-time wrestler to just competing part-time is his success in Hollywood. His latest movie was Ricky Stanicky. Cena’s co-star in the film is Zac Efron. Recently, the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion reflected on the first time he met Efron.
Both John Cena and Zac Efron were recently interviewed by Josh Horowitz of MTV. During the interview, Horowitz mentioned that the first time he remembers seeing Efron and Cena share the screen was back in 2009. It was the Teen Choice Awards. The former Doctor of Thuganomics also mentioned that it was the first time he met Efron and after nearly two decades they have finally acted in a film together.
“I mean, you can’t have a story without the first step. And that is I believe our first meeting. That was a long time ago. I mean, man, we are talking almost 15 years ago. Yeah, that would probably be the first time we met. And I’d like to say, yeah, that’s our origin story. We knew one day, one day this would happen. We just had to wait almost fifteen years for it to happen.”
Zac Efron followed up by saying that back in 2009 both and Cena were probably thinking their careers in the acting business would most probably be done in a couple of years. The 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion replied by agreeing with Efron.
“That… You know what, that’s… Yes. Internally, I’m saying exactly that. It’s okay. That’s all right. What a long strange trip it has been right?” John Cena said.
