The Blue Meanie Asked Paul Heyman To Do A Sting Parody Called ‘Stink’ In ECW

A legendary career came to an end last night at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view. It was the final match of WWE Hall of Famer Sting. Following his retirement, many wrestlers who worked with the wrestling legend and who had been inspired by him were all sending their ‘thank you’ messages to The Icon. One such person is ECW veteran The Blue Meanie, who shared a story about Sting’s character that didn’t come to pass.

The Blue Meanie took to Twitter to share an interesting gimmick idea he pitched while he was competing in ECW. Meanie, who gained fame as part of the bWo, revealed that he had pitched an idea to Paul Heyman to play a parody of the Icon Sting. He wanted to be called Stink. But that pitch never came to fruition.

“In ECW I proposed to @HeymanHustle a parody of Sting where I’d be lowered to the ring as “STINK”. “Here comes STIIIIIIINK”. #ThankYouSting,” Blue Meani tweeted.

Sting on who will carry his torch

Recently, the Icon was interviewed by Pro Wrestling Illustrated. During the interview, Sting shared that he would love to see his tag team partner Darby Allin be the one to carry his legacy forward. Sting also revealed that a lot of what the duo did together came from the mind of Darby Allin.

“I’ve been saying it for three years, since I started with AEW, but, to me, it’s Darby Allin. He has a mind for this business, not just for himself. So much of what we’ve done together started as Darby’s idea—he pitches and produces the videos we do, for example. He has the work ethic and the creative mind, and he cares about what wrestling fans think. He never goes out there and dogs it, he’s the kind of guy who would go balls to the wall even if the house wasn’t that good. And I’m not just saying that as his partner. He has great leadership ability, no fear, and a lot of compassion,” Sting said.

Would you have enjoyed the ‘Stink’ gimmick if it was ever approved?
