Brock Lesnar was originally set to have a major match at WWE WrestleMania 40, according to a new report.
The return of Brock Lesnar was planned for WWE Royal Rumble, per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. However, this plan was nixed after Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. The lawsuit alleges that McMahon and Laurinaitis engaged in sexual assault and trafficking of Grant, and that McMahon used Grant as a sexual pawn to get Lesnar to re-sign with WWE.
John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported that the original plan called for Brock Lesnar to wrestle Dominik Mysterio at WWE Elimination Chamber. Meltzer confirmed this report in the Daily Update. He also added that Brock was slated to face Gunther, the reigning Intercontinental Champion, at WrestleMania 40. It was not clear whether the match would have been for Gunther’s title.
Meltzer states that Lesnar will not be involved with this creative unless WWE decides to bring him back. Bron Breakker effectively replaced Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match. He eliminated the competitors that Lesnar was initially meant to. However, it is not clear whether he will take his spot in these matches.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
