TKO CEO Ari Emanuel discusses WWE’s major deal with Netflix.
As announced on January 23, WWE RAW will move to Netflix in January 2025. The move marks a major step for WWE, and the deal is reportedly worth $5 billion over ten years.
Speaking on Squawk on the Street, TKO CEO Ari Emanuel was asked about what he could tell investors about how significant the deal is from monetary perspective and how much of an improvement it is.
“All I’ll say is that we are in line with the market’s expectations, of where our step up would be. The only other thing I would say is, it’s Netflix. They’re the global leader, they’re the best company with regard to sports entertainment, whether they’re done it with Formula 1, Tour de France, and this is kind of the next iteration as they go to live and moving into live.”
When asked whether Netflix will be moving into live programming, Emanuel noted that the deal seemed to indicate that live was important to them. He then went on to emphasize that landing with Netflix was a big deal for WWE and TKO.
“I think the word Netflix is very important for this, and a ten-year deal with Raw, it’s a big deal…. For us, it kind of just strengthens the brand on a global basis with that relationship.”
