TNA IMPACT Results – January 18, 2024

The show opens with a video package highlighting Saturday’s Hard To Kill event.

X-Division Six-Way: Mike Bailey vs. KUSHIDA vs. Jake Something vs. El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Trey Miguel vs. Laredo Kid

Jake tosses Trey out of the ring to start before Vikingo dropkicks Something out as well. Kushida follows suit by diving onto Something, which leads to Bailey, Kid, and Vikingo diving out. Back inside, Trey traps Kid in a leg hold when Kushida goes for Hover Board Lock. Something gets back in and chokeslams Trey onto Kid. He then catches Vikingo, who counters with chops. Something delivers forearm shots all around to keep it just him and Vikingo inside.

Vikingo bounces up and goes on a flurry of offense. Something catches him in the air and throws him over the ropes onto a couple men. Kushida and Trey go back at it as Kushida applies Hover Board Lock. Vikingo breaks it up with a stomp. Kid hits Bailey with a Spanish Fly off the top. Something hits Kid with Into The Void and pins for the win.

Winner: Jake Something

Backstage, Gia Miller speaks to Will Ospreay ahead of his anticipated rematch against Josh Alexander. Ospreay recalls beating Josh before and has represented wrestling across the globe recently. He challenges Josh to step up tonight.

We see a new vignette for Ash By Elegance followed by highlights of Gisele Shaw winning Ultimate X at Hard To Kill. Shaw speaks and says she did what she said she was going to do. She puts Jordynne on notice when Gail Kim walks up and tries to congratulate her. Kim tells Shaw that she doesn’t need the help of the Shawntourage. Gisele ignores her and walks off.

Tasha Steelz vs. Xia Brookside

Lock up starts it before Xia rolls away for space. Xia goes back after the left arm and flips Tasha over before a dropkick. Steelz pulls out a pump kick and then grounds Xia with a brief headlock. Xia tries to power out but Steelz hits a Three Amigos and then twerks. Xia catches Tasha in a small package but then hits clotheslines. Xia plants Tasha on her face and hits running double knees in the corner, cover. Steelz comes back with a lungblower, cover. Xia catches Steelz with the Brooksie Bomb and traps her in a pinfall for the win.

Winner: Xia Brookside

We see a replay of AJ Francis chokeslamming Joe Hendry on Saturday. Backstage, Hendry calls for them to let bygones be bygones. After all, he still has DJ Whoo Kid’s laptop. It’s then revealed that Kid was taken out behind Hendry.

Frankie Kazarian & Eric Young vs. Grizzled Young Vets

EY and Gibson kick things off with an intense lockup. Drake tags in and works the left arm. Kazarian comes in with a spinning neckbreaker on Drake, followed by chops and a Side Russian Legsweep. Gibson trips up Kazarian and pulls him to the floor, allowing for Drake to dive out on the attack. Gibson stays in control and tags in Drake to take over.

Kazarian grabs at Gibson’s face in an attempt for space. He gets a chop in but Gibson uppercuts. Drake returns with a headlock. Kazarian finally strikes both men but gets cut off from tagging out. Kazarian sends Drake out but Gibson briefly takes over. Kaz suplexes Gibson but Drake pulls EY off the apron. Drake tags in, elbow drop. GYV hits an assisted sliced bread, kick out.

The ref has to prevent EY from running in. Drake leaps out of the ring to further weaken Kazarian. EY finally gets the hot tag and he double teams GYV with a flurry of offense that Gibson tries to break up. Drake kicks EY in the back of the head before Kazarian stops Sliced Bread but he accidentally clubs EY. GYV hits Grit Your Teeth on EY and Drake pins him.

Winners: GYV

After, Kazarian gets upset and runs over EY with a clothesline. He stares at the camera and looks at the fans with a look in his eye before running back to kick his tag partner. Kazarian drops him with Fade To Black. Vegas equally turns their back on Kazarian as he walks to the back.

The System is out at dinner celebrating their Hard To Kill performances. Moose finishes by reminding them to always “trust the system.”

Nic Nemeth Speaks

Nemeth reflects on his path to TNA and declares he’s coming after the TNA World title. But, he respects the locker room enough to not just stroll in and get the title match. This is his first day and he’s going to start all over and earn his way to the top. This time, he’s doing it as Nic Nemeth.

Steve Maclin interrupts. He calls out Nemeth for claiming he gives to the business. He only gives but never takes. Nemeth tries to talk but Maclin lowers his mic. Maclin says Nic will suck the blood out of TNA and go on to somewhere else. Fans won’t remember Nic Nemeth, they’ll just ask what happened to Dolph Ziggler. Maclin knocks his mic out so Nemeth slaps him and then hits Danger Zone to lay Maclin out.

Backstage, Gia speaks to Jordynne Grace about becoming a 3-time world champ. Trinity walks up and congratulates her but reminds her she wants her rematch next week. Trinity claims she will leave the champ again.

Jai Vidal vs. PCO

Jai Vidal randomly walks down to the ring with a mic in hand. He reminds everyone that he got his wrestling start in Vegas. He then turns on the crowd before PCO’s music hits.

Jai is shook at the fact that PCO is his opponent. PCO clotheslines him and then hits a chokeslam. PCO hits PCOsault off the top and that does it.

Winner: PCO

Backstage, we hear from Motor City Machine Guns and Kazuchika Okada ahead of their six-man tag against The System next week. It’s also confirmed we’ll see Grace/Trinity rematch for the title plus Nemeth vs. Wentz.

Josh Alexander vs. Will Ospreay

Feeling out process starts. Ospreay hits an armdrag takeover, inverted atomic drop, and standing shooting star for a cover. Ospreay goes to leap off the ropes when Josh trips him and hits a running crossbody that sends them both to the floor. Inside, they trade blows until Josh hits a German. Ospreay bounces off the ropes with a springboard enziguri that sends Josh to the floor.

On the floor, Josh traps Will in an ankle lock but Will pulls a table out while trying to escape. Will kicks Josh off of him and plants him with a tornado DDT. Will sets up the table at ringside. On the apron, Josh chops but Will clotheslines him back in. Will hits Phenomenal Forearm, brief cover. Josh pulls out a fisherman suplex and then a powerbomb into a backbreaker but it’s not enough.

Josh drops Will with a backbreaker on his knee. Josh tries for a German from the apron but Will hoists Josh on his shoulders above the table. Josh reverses but Ospreay headbutts out. Ospreay manages a Tiger Driver on Alexander through the table for “holy shit” chants. Officials check on both men and allow the match to continue.

Ospreay rolls back in first while Josh barely beats it. Ospreay hits a dropkick followed by Oscutter for a nearfall. He goes for Hidden Blade but Josh collapses. Josh fires up after a bit but Ospreay hits Spanish Fly out of nowhere, nearfall. Josh counters Storm Breaker but Ospreay reverses into Stundog Millionaire. Oscutter off the ropes and both go down. Josh catches Ospreay off the ropes, Will does a Scorpion Kick on the ramp. Will backs up and goes for Hidden Blade but Josh ducks.

Will tries Oscuter but Josh catches him into a piledriver on the ramp. Josh throws Will back in and does a corner clothesline. Josh carries Will up to the second rope for a rolling senton, two count. Johs applies ankle lock and Will is trapped until he rolls through Josh into the turnbuckle. Will hits Poisonrana off the top followed by Hidden Blade, kickout. Another Hidden Blade connects followed by Storm Driver 93, kickout again.

Ospreay pulls off his elbow pad and kisses it. They meet in the middle with chops and strikes. Josh clotheslines him inside out and the crowd comes unglued as Josh pulls off the straps. Ospreay counters C4 and goes for Styles Clash. Josh rolls it into an ankle lock and Will tries to kick him off. Josh lifts Will into Styles Clash, nearfall. Josh nails C4 Spike in response and that does it.

Winner: Josh Alexander

After, Scott D’Amore enters the ring and says, “Holy shit!” The crowd chants in response. Scott recalls watching wrestling at his dying grandfather’s bedside when he was four. And he’s been beat up over the years all over the world. He saw the lows, the dead corpse of TNA years ago. He watched the fans, watched people like Alexander and Ospreay, roll up their sleeves and manually pump the heart for TNA to live again. Scott expresses his happiness over Hard To Kill and Ospreay vs. Alexander. “TNA is back and it’s never, ever going away.” Josh and Will raise hands to close the show.
