A new champion has been crowned.
In the main event of WWE NXT on January 9, Dragon Lee successfully defended his NXT North American Championship against Lexis King after the two had a backstage confrontation earlier in the night.
However, Lee’s night was far from over as Oba Femi made his way out with the intention of cashing in his NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament contract for an impromptu shot at the gold. After a brief but quick battle, Femi eventually planted Lee into the mat and pinned him to become the new champion.
Dragon Lee’s North American title reign now ends at 32 days after he won it at NXT Deadline by dethroning Dominik Mysterio. Dragon Lee, who was called up to SmackDown this summer, served as a late replacement for the injured Wes Lee.
Femi has been with WWE since 2022 but made his official televised debut in the 2023 Breakout tournament where he defeated Myles Borne, Tavion Heights, and Riley Osborne to ultimately win the entire thing.
