Cody Rhodes is focused on reaching his next milestone.
Rhodes spoke with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated about where he lands on the WrestleMania 40 card. Many believe Rhodes is destined to “finish the story” by getting a rematch with Roman Reigns on the show. However, The Rock’s return (and “head of the table” tease) may throw a wrench into the American Nightmare’s plans.
Cody Rhodes says there are plenty of names in the mix for a coveted main event spot at WrestleMania, but he’s just doing the work to ensure he gets one for himself.
“The Rock is The Great One–he’s still electrifying,” Rhodes said. “CM Punk is one of the greatest stars in the history of wrestling. I know what I’m up against. Look at the roster–it’s loaded with stars. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m not flinching. I’m not rooting against anyone else, I’m just working to make it happen.”
Rhodes noted how he keeps working towards the next goal, which always change. He hopes that he puts himself on the Road To WrestleMania with a win in the Royal Rumble.
“The milestones keep building,” said Cody Rhodes. “We keep climbing to new levels. Now the question I keep asking myself is, ‘Who is the face of the place?’ That’s what I want. That’s another level I need to attain. Hopefully that starts at the Royal Rumble.”
Cody Rhodes’ best year ever
2024 has arrived and Cody Rhodes recently shared his resolutions for the New Year. WWE’s Cathy Kelly asked the American Nightmare about his resolutions.
“Do you have a resolution? The cookies at catering are good. Tough road ahead of you. Good luck. 2024 personal resolutions, be the best father, be the best husband. Professional resolutions, I think everybody knows the three words I’d probably say here, but instead I’ll say maybe company resolutions. WWE in 2023, dollars and cents wise, black and white on paper, had its best year ever. That’s just wild. Best year ever. I think I can guarantee that in 2024, WWE has an even better year. Yeah, hopefully I’m not wrong right?” Cody Rhodes said.
