A new match has been announced for the special “Homecoming” episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW CEO Tony Khan announced that AEW World Tag Team Champion Ricky Starks will face Sammy Guevara in a singles match. Guevara made his return on the December 27 episode of Dynamite and reunited with Chris Jericho, who has been feuding with Starks and Big Bill. Jericho and Guevara then teamed up at AEW Worlds End; they joined forces with Sting and Darby Allin to defeat Starks, Bill, Konosuke Takeshita, and Powerhouse Hobbs.

The updated card for the January 10 episode of Dynamite is as follows:
- Sting & Darby Allin vs. Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs & Konosuke Takeshita)
- AEW World Champion Samoa Joe appears
- Ricky Starks vs. Sammy Guevara
