Kurt Angle Was Excited About Having Security For His Olympic Gold Medal

The first person in WWE to show up wearing an Olympic Gold Medal is the former World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle. The wrestling legend recently shared about how he felt when he had security protection for his Gold Medal.

The WWE Hall of Famer made his in-ring debut at the 1999 Survivor Series event. Back then, he did not have any security for his medal. A few years later when he turned completely he had assigned security to keep his Olympic gold medal safe.

During the recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer shared that having security was going to garner a lot of heat and he was excited about it.

“The writers. It was a heat magnet to have security for my gold medal. And for me it was awesome. I loved that, I embellished it, I thought it was awesome. So I kind of amped it up a bit. But I was really excited about this. Because I knew it would draw a lot of heat. It is [makes it feel super important]. You know… It is… I’ve had my gold medal since I started. Did I ever have security before that? So all of a sudden I have security and now I’m an asshole,” Kurt Angle said.

Kurt Angle doesn’t consider himself the Greatest of All Time and here’s why

A few weeks ago, Kurt Angle was a guest on the True Geordie podcast. During the episode, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion talked about a lot of things from his drug addiction problem to giving advice to the current generation stars such as Logan Paul.

One of the things that Angle spoke about was why he would not consider himself the greatest professional wrestler of all time.

“At the time I was wrestling, I thought I was the best wrestler in the world. Will I say was I the greatest of all time? No, because to be the greatest of all time, I think you need to put in 20 consecutive years with one company. I didn’t do that. I put six-and-a-half [years] with WWE, then [10] with TNA, and then another two with WWE. So I never was able to stay with one company for a 20-year period. Unfortunately, I can’t put myself up there as one of the greatest of all time. Although, I think my technique does speak for itself.”

While Angle may not want to be considered the G.O.A.T, he himself agreed that he is one of the best technical wrestlers in the business.

“I’m up there [as one of the best technical performers], there’s no doubt about it. I brought a lot of my amateur wrestling to the table. A lot of guys, they do the pro wrestling stuff, but I was able to intertwine both. I think that’s what made me special,” Angle said.
