Sammy Guevara is one of the top stars in AEW. He has captured multiple championships within the promotion. The self-proclaimed Spanish God has had several memorable moments in the five years he’s been with the company. Guevara recently shared which spot was his favorite.
One of the championships he captured on multiple occasions is the AEW TNT Championship. He captured the title once by defeating Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match. In the match, Sammy Guevara jumped from one ladder to another to catch The American Nightmare a Cutter from the top of the ladder.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, The Spanish God revealed that the Cutter from the top of the ladder was his favorite spot.
“It’s gotta be probably the cutter off the ladder, spring up, boom. You know, it’s funny, the day before at the airport I was talking to Alan Angels, that’s when I thought of doing that. I was like, Do you think this would be cool? Or do you think this is not cool enough? I wanted to do something that’s never been seen. And then he was like, Yeah, I think it’d be cool. [I said] Should I try to twist with it? And I’m like, Nah, I guess I’ll just do it like this. I was so scared the latter was going to kick back from me though. But I remember in midair I’m going I jump off the ladder in midair. I’m like, Oh, wow, it worked, wow, then ow! And then you know, we landed like in midair I’m thinking like, oh, wow, I got a good jump, but it didn’t kick back or anything,” Sammy Guevara said.
Sammy Guevara reveals how Cody Rhodes reacted to the spot
Guevara also shared that Cody Rhodes was excited and wanted to add more craziness as he could as that was Rhodes’ last match in the company.
“He was down for everything, he wanted to do so much craziness. This was his last AEW match I didn’t know at that time maybe he knew. But like he wanted to go balls to the wall like the ending, he wanted to do like a superplex to the outside through a ladder and all this. I’m like we got to get up and still climb this ladder and yeah, we ended up doing swanton with the ladder that didn’t break, literally broke my back.”
